Appendix E: On-Going Monitoring of LEOs with Fibromyalgia

SECTIONS

It is the consensus of the Public Safety Medicine Task Group that LEOs with stable and well-controlled fibromyalgia should be reevaluated at least annually. Standards from several federal agencies (see Appendix D) require annual medical qualification examinations on their LEOs. More frequent evaluation might be warranted if there is a change in the overall condition of the fibromyalgia (e.g., increased pain), treatment/management or if there are performance issues. The frequency of examination should also be determined by the status of any comorbid conditions and medications (if any) used to treat these conditions, as defined in the appropriate chapter in this document.
